2017-2018 Application

To meet the AOF staff and to pick up an application in person, join us at the High School Showcase on December 8, 2016 at the Volusia County Fairgrounds. The online application will be available December 9, 2016.

Applications must be returned by the district deadline. Applications turned in after the deadline may not be considered. Current VCS middle school students should complete the application and return it to us.

Students who have most recently been enrolled in a private school or home school setting or are current high school students should complete both the private/home school application and three teacher recommendations. [Applications available December 9 online]

High School Showcase at the fairgrounds
  • An opportunity for 7th and 8th grade students and parents to learn about career academies and programs at each high school
  • 5:00pm -7:00pm in the Tommy Lawrence Arena
Academy applications available

SCHS Academy / IB Information Night
  • SCHS Auditorium
Deadline for applications
  • Career academy applications must be signed by the parent and student
  • Career academy applications must be turned in to the high school
  • No applications will be collected at the middle schools



Freshman Orientation

An opportunity for students and parents to learn about elective programs, clubs and sports at the Creek.

  • Letters will be e-mailed to the parent/guardian address listed on the application

If an in-zone student has been accepted into both AOF and IB, please register at the times listed above.

March 24 2017 Deadline to declare intent to join an academy

Students/parents may declare their intent to hold a seat in a career academy in one of the following ways:

  • Electronic response by date
  • Postmarked letter on or before date


  • Entrance to the Academy of Finance is limited to 9th and 10th grades based on space availability.
  • Student eligibility is determined by such factors as academic performance, attendance, and conduct.
  • There is a cap on out of zone students.
  • Out of zone applications received after deadline will not be considered.
  • Out of zone applicants must choose their program of choice whether IB or Academy of Finance. In-zone applicants may participate in both programs.





Completion of the Academy of Finance helps to prepare students for post-secondary education, not only in finance-related majors, but also for any program requiring a strong foundation in business, social studies, math, and language arts.
